Communications Boost

Two long-time Chamber interns were hired on as full-time staff this summer: Mimi Jansen and Vy Dotson.  While considered a move to enhance Chamber communications services, Vy’s actual position is that of Tollefson Plaza Coordinator. However, she has been providing ad hoc services as a Marketing Coordinator for the Chamber, putting to use her degree in PR and Advertising.  Mimi transitioned from intern to contractor for the Chamber and is now the Communications Coordinator.

Mimi Jansen began interning for the Chamber in September of 2007 as a University of Washington Tacoma student, working in the Communications department. She contracted with the Chamber after graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Communications in May 2008. She currently lives in Gig Harbor with her husband and three sons. If she had spare time, she would like to finish her novel—a long-time project, natch.

Vy Dotson also began as an intern at the Chamber in October of 2008 to help plan the first Tollefest. She assisted Joanne Buselmeier in management of Tollefson Plaza up through her graduation in May 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising. Post-graduation, she moved back to her hometown of Olympia and commutes by bus and carpool to work. She considers Tacoma her second home and feels privileged to work in the heart of it.
