“Next Generation” Speaks Up—Watch Their Roundtable Video! |
|
|
A highlight of the annual meeting was a short video presentation of a round table discussion facilitated by the Chamber in September 2009 which brought together a diverse group of emerging leaders. They come from diverse business backgrounds, working in sectors like retail office supply, financial services consulting, and higher education. In addition to discussing differences between
free enterprise past and present, these dynamic young women and men generously shared their vision of the

of tomorrow.
A few themes were central to the discussion: the belief that business leaders are “personally accountable” for the larger impact of their decisions, a sense that the “Next Big Idea” to revolutionize the business world can and will emerge from today’s youth; and a vigorous sense that commitment to community means commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. These young men and women are indicative of how business leaders of tomorrow will operate in
a world where the interconnections between profit, place and people are increasingly taken into account.
